The latest Industry Statistics released by telecommunications sector umpire, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), shows that 9mobile leads other mobile network operators(MNOs), in porting gains while Airtel Nigeria comes second, followed by MTN Nigeria while Globacom makes the rear in that order.

Porting Data Incoming between March 2019 and February 2020 saw 9mobile receiving 5, 371 porting requests while Airtel Nigeria received 4,580 porting requests.  MTN Nigeria and Globacom received 2,515 and  259 porting requests respectively.  Incoming(Inward Porting means the number of numbers ported from another service providers network into a service providers own network. The regulator statistics did not detail the pattern of losses and gains between and among the various networks.

As at December 2019, the total number of connected lines stood at 269, 717, 158 . Of this figure, the total connected GSM numbers stood at 268, 549,433. Number of active GSM active subscribers in the national network stood at 184, 426, 187.  CDMA did not record any figures. The total number of Voice Over Internet Protocol(VoIP)lines stood at 952,292 while the active VoIP lines in the network stood at 166,068.  There were a total number of  215,433 Fixed Wired/Wireless  lines while the active ones were 107,154.  The teledensity for the period stood at 96.76 per cent.

Broadband subscription/data penetration for the period March 2019 to February 2020 stood at 39.58 per cent.  Penetration for January and December 2019 stood at 38.49 per cent and 37.80 per cent, respectively.
