UK TMT regulator, Ofcom says it is consulting on a request from A Spokesman Said Limited to change the format of its North London AM service, Love Sport.

A commercial radio station’s Format describes the type of programmes it is required to provide under its licence. This includes a description of the ‘character’ of the service.

Love Sport currently provides a 24-hour speech service for Londoners focusing on sports, topical content and local information.

According to Ofcom : “The licensee has requested to change this to a contemporary Asian / urban music-led station for young British Asians. If granted, we understand the service would be re-branded as ‘Asian FX’.

While we are minded to approve the change, we are first seeking views from interested or affected parties before making our final decision. Responses must be submitted by 5pm on 1 September 2020.”
