Parrot Analytics: Amazon Strikes Gold With The Boys

By Jonathan Easton

Amazon’s big-budget dark superhero satire The Boys has topped Parrot Analytics’ originals in-demand chart in France for the week ending September 20.

Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms. The analyst illustrates demand expressions based on how much more popular a charted title is than an average TV show.

Despite its subversive setup in the era of Marvel and DC blockbusters, the Karl Urban-starring The Boysmanaged 33.7 times the demand of an average show. In second place was regular favourite The Mandalorian from Disney+ with 26.3 times the demand of an average show, with Netflix’s popular Lucifer in third with 25 times the demand of an average show and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale in fourth.

Netflix dominates the remainder of the list with La Casa Del Papel in fifth, Stranger Things in sixth, Dark in seventh, The Umbrella Academy in eighth and The Crown at ten.

Amazon rounds out the list with sci-fi revival The Expanse in ninth.
