A leading global provider of transportation and logistics solutions, XPO Logistics, Inc. , has announced a companywide shoe drive to benefit the non-profit organization Soles4Souls.
During the month of December, XPO employees will collect new or lightly used shoes to help Soles4Souls aid people living below the poverty line. The shoe drive expands on XPO’s support of Soles4Souls, following the company’s donations of supply chain services earlier this year.
“Today, on Giving Tuesday, we’re launching our December shoe drive to help Soles4Souls bring comfort to children and adults in need,” said XPO’s chief diversity officer, LaQuenta Jacobs. “We hope that everyone will celebrate this global day of generosity by making a difference in someone’s life through an act of kindness.”

When I think about the qualities I admire most in the people who’ve come into my life, the one that always seems to top the list is generosity. It’s a quality that embraces kindness and caring, uplifts those who are touched by it and even those who witness it from afar. That’s why our support for Giving Tuesday means so much to me.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement falling this year on Dec. 1. On that day XPO announced a partnership with Souls4Soles, under which we’ve kicked off a month-long drive to collect new and lightly-worn shoes to be donated to Soles4Souls’ micro-enterprise programme. This programme helps entrepreneurs in developing countries sustain a small business selling shoes.
Following XPO’s donation of supply chain services to Soles4Souls earlier this year, we were especially gratified to expand our engagement with this great organization. Soles4Souls helps show the world what a spirit of generosity can accomplish by empowering entrepreneurs in disadvantaged communities. It provides the means for these entrepreneurs to contribute to environmental sustainability by helping to keep unwanted shoes from going to waste. That, and the inclusiveness inherent in this endeavor, is in perfect harmony with the values XPO holds dear.
I’m heartened by our company’s involvement, and by the fact that XPO will donate US$4 for each pair of shoes collected, up to US$10,000. There’s probably never been a year in our lifetimes when the world was more in need of this spirit of generosity. The opportunity to help fill that need is one that none of us can afford to miss.
