Vodafone And TiVo Extend Licencing Deal

By Jonathan Easton

TiVo has announced the renewal of its long-term relationship with Vodafone across Europe and Africa.

The new multi-year agreements will provide Vodafone access to TiVo’s products and a licence to its patent portfolio. In particular, the deal will allow Vodafone to utilise TiVo’s solutions and services on its VTV platform, including the company’s Conversational Voice functionality and its search and personalised recommendations.

Vodafone currently has more than 300 million mobile customers, over 27 million fixed broadband customers and more than 22 million TV customers across its markets.

Chief revenue officer at TiVo parent company Xperi, Matt Milne said: “This expanded agreement with Vodafone reinforces the value that TiVo’s innovative technology portfolio brings to the telecommunications industry. With this extension of TiVo’s services, Vodafone is maintaining its service offerings and keeping audiences engaged in the hugely competitive entertainment landscape.”

Elsewhere, TiVo has also signed a multi-year agreement with TV maker Sharp.

That deal will see Sharp utilise TiVo’s G-Guide products such as remote schedule recording and G-Guide HTML on its compatible TV and UHD Blu-Ray player devices in Japan.

Milne added: “Today’s renewal with Sharp Corporation underlines TiVo’s commitment to the Japanese market, where G-Guide continues to be the leading entertainment discovery solution.”https://www.digitaltveurope.com
