Facebook has expanded its Watch TV app to Vewd-enabled smart TVs and set-top boxes worldwide.
Facebook Watch, the video streaming platform from the social media giant, has significantly expanded in recent years and features popular shows like Red Table Talk, STEVE on Watch and Peace of Mind with Taraji. It also features a large gaming section, following Microsoft’s mid-2020 decision to shut down Mixer and partner with Facebook.
Manufacters who have deployed Vewd’s smart TV OS can now add the app globally, either in the Vewd App Store or integrated into the Vewd OS user experience.
Vewd said that there are over 350 million Vewd-enabled smart TVs and set-top boxes worldwide, and that nearly 40 million devices ship each year utilising the OS.
CEO of Vewd, Aneesh Rajaram said: “Facebook Watch offers an impressive lineup of content that keeps viewers coming back for more. We’re pleased to work with Facebook to scale their app distribution across our Smart TV and Pay TV customer base. Our end-to-end OTT software approach combined with our unique market position enables video platforms like Facebook to increase their reach, deploy in new markets and help people discover new video content tailored to their interests and social connections.”
