African operator StarTimes is bringing its OTT platform StarTimes ON to VIDAA-powered Hisense smart TVs.
The service has 27 million users across the continent, and offers subscribers access to more than 150 live TV channels and 20,000 hours of VOD content. It streams content in SD, HD and UHD in various languages including English, French, Portuguese, Swahili, Hausa, Hindi, Yoruba, and Chinese.
The operator said that the App streams content via 2G/3G or 4G networks, and claimed that it uses up to 30 per cent less data than its competitors.
StarTimes Regional Marketing Director Aldrine Nsubuga, said: “We are delighted to partner with VIDAA. Launching StarTimes ON on VIDAA-powered Hisense devices gives users an additional platform to enjoy StarTimes ON’s rich content portfolio that will lead to an unprecedented television experience. We have therefore heeded to consumer feedback to include our application across multiple devices key towards growing subscriber convenience.”
