Telefónica has formed a partnership with TikTok to collaborate in a number of areas in Europe and Latin America, beginning with the launch of Living App TikTok Extra as part of Movistar+, the telco’s pay TV service in Spain.
Movistar Fusión customers in over a million homes across Spain with UHD set-tops will be able to access the TikTok app via the TV.
TikTok’s Living Apps are apps specially developed for TV. TikTok Extra will be available in the apps section of the Movistar+ menu, bringing a selection of TikTok content to users.
Users of Telefónica’s Movistar Home smart home offering or who have its voice-enabled remote control will be able to interact with the apps using voice via the Aura virtual assistant developed by the telco.
The agreement between the pair foresees wider collaboration that will enable TikTok users to view content across Telefóncia’s various channels, along with plans for collaboration in marketing initiatives, distribution of services and technology.
