Paramount+ Partners With Millicom For Latin America Expansion

By Stuart Thomson

ViacomCBS streaming outfit Paramount+ has teamed up with Latin American and Caribbean cable and mobile service provider Millicom, which operates under the Tigo brand, to take its premium content to its cable subscribers in Costa Rica, Honduras and Bolivia.

Tigo customers, including subscribers to its One tv service, will be able to access the Paramount+ premium content catalogue, including movies and series including Bryan Cranston starrer Your Honor – part of the raft of content the service carries from Showtime – and The Handmaid’s Tale, along with exclusive kids’ content including Las Pistas de Blue y Tu.

The streaming platform, which provides over 5,000 hours of content, will also be taken to other territories where Tigo perates at a later date, with prices that will vary from market to market. Millicom also plans to extend the service to its Tigo mobile customers.

Customers can subscribe to Paramount+ for a monthly cost that will vary between territories. Including tax, the service will be available for BOB34.40 or €4.10(US$4.86) in Bolivia, CRC2,799 in Costa Rica (€3.70) and HNL119 (€4.13) in Honduras.

ViacomCBS launched Paramount+, an overhauled version of former streamer CBS All Access, in Latin America in March, with ad-supported sister streaming outfit Pluto TV carrying a Paramount+ branded channel to promote the service.
