Altice Portugal-owned operator MEO has announced a deal with SPI/FilmBox to introduce SPI’s premium drama brand Dizi to the country.

Dizi content will be offered both via linear channel and SVOD through the operator’s distribution networks in the basic package. The Timeless Dizi Channel will be available to MEO subscribers at channel 77 with Portuguese subtitles and the viewers will be able to access Dizi content on-demand through MEO’s SVOD service “MEO Filmes e Séries” which is available on channel 80.

Dizi is currently available in more than 50 countries worldwide, including in Western European markets including Luxembourg and Switzerland. It offers a range of award-winning Turkish drama series including Karadayi, Kurt Seyit & Shura, Black Money Love and Wings of Love.

This is the latest distribution deal between SPI/FilmBox and MEO, with the operator already carrying the gaming and esports channel Gametoon.

MD Western Europe and Africa at SPI International, Georgina Twiss said: “We are delighted to bring the mesmerizing world of Dizi to more Western European audiences through this agreement with our long-standing partners MEO in Portugal. Our Dizi brand is extremely well received across the globe and we are looking forward to witnessing Dizi’s Portuguese fan base grow as they tune into these engaging series.”

Consumer Products and Services Director at Altice Portugal, Tiago Silva Lopes said: “The launch of Dizi Channel differentiates and diversifies MEO’s offer, allowing access, on the one hand, to content aimed at international fiction lovers and, on the other hand, to specific styles, such as series.”
