EBRD Names Carlos San Basilio New EBRD Managing Director Corporate Strategy

Carlos San Basilio has been appointed the new Managing Director, Corporate Strategy, at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with effect from 1 September 2021.
“It is a privilege to be joining the EBRD, an institution with the ambitious and motivating mandate of fostering the transition towards open market-oriented economies, applying the principles of multiparty democracy,” he said.
San Basilio, a Spanish national, joins the EBRD from his current position as Secretary General/Director General of the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance of Spain. Between 2013 and 2015 he served as a Financial Counsellor of Spain at the European Union in Brussels. In addition to his extensive experience in the public sector he has also worked in the private sector at Banco Santander and the London Exchange Group.
He holds a degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard.
