The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Khalil Dinguizli as the new head of the Bank’s operations in Lebanon. Based in Beirut, Mr Dinguizli will assume his role on 1 September 2021, succeeding Gretchen Biery.
He will be responsible for the EBRD’s investments and operations in the country and report to Philip ter Woort, the Bank’s Director for the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Dinguizli said: “I’m honoured to take this responsibility and to continue the work that has been done in Lebanon, supporting the private sector and helping the economy in these challenging times.”
A dual Tunisian and French national, Dinguizli joined the Bank in 2014 in Tunisia where he has been in charge of the EBRD’s investments and financing for the private sector. In 2020 he was appointed as Acting Head for Tunisia’s office and managed the Bank’s operations there. Before joining the EBRD, Dinguizli worked for 10 years in investment banking at Credit Agricole CIB in Paris.
Dinguizli graduated in finance from IHEC Carthage in Tunisia and from ESCP Business School in Paris.
To date, the Bank has invested more than €750 million(US$881.6million) in Lebanon with a focus on supporting private sector competitiveness, promoting a sustainable energy supply and enhancing the quality and efficiency of public service delivery.
