By Godson Umejiego, Correspondent USA

On Thursday, September 16, 2021, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Chairman Jelena McWilliams will announce the launch of the Mission-Driven Bank Fund, a capital investment vehicle being developed by the FDIC to support insured Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs) and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs).

Chairman McWilliams will also reveal the Fund’s anchor and founding investors and describe this unique framework to preserve and promote these mission-driven institutions and to amplify their impact in lower income urban and rural communities.

Members of the news media can join a teleconference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET (details below). We ask that you dial-in at least five minutes prior to the start of the news conference to ensure your connection.

This FT Digital Dialogue, organised in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will discuss how strategic investors in emerging markets can help shift capital flows to support climate action and corporates can reduce risks and maintain access to capital by working together to improve climate-related governance and disclosure.
