VA Taps Cybersecurity Vendor For EHR Modernization, Remote Workforce

By Hannah Nelson

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has selected cybersecurity vendor Palo Alto to provide services for its EHR Modernization (EHRM) programme, expanded remote workforce, and its network of Internet of Medical Things (IoMTs).

The multiyear agreement builds on a decade-long relationship between VA and the vendor.

“The Department of Veterans Affairs provides millions of veterans with access to quality services, including healthcare,” president of Palo Alto Networks, BJ Jenkins noted in a press release. “We are proud to deliver the cybersecurity tools to support this critical mission and continue building on our longstanding partnership with the VA.”

The company’s next-generation security technology is set to secure the EHRM program. When completed, the EHR system will support interoperability of patient health data across a network of nine million veterans and their family members, officials noted.

The technology will also provide automated visibility into all the IoMT devices in VA’s network.

Additionally, VA will leverage the vendor’s remote access solution in efforts to secure its remote workforce expansion.
