RTL Germany and its news channel ntv have launched a news service in Ukrainian that will run on RTL.news, ntv.de and YouTube.
The Ukraine Update will feature presenter Karolina Ashion, a formerly Kyiv-based TV journalist who fled to Germany at the beginning of the war.
The segment, which will run from Monday to Friday, will cover all Ukraine-related news, including news on the refugee exodus, in 10-minute shows each day.
Managing director of RTL News, Stephan Schmitter said: “We have been providing our viewers and users with high-quality news since the beginning of the war. We are where it happens. We are working hard to verify the material. The situation of the people in Ukraine and the refugees in Germany is depressing – with the Ukraine Update we want to give you a secure news overview. We will also strengthen our team with other colleagues from Ukraine, whom we hope we can give a bit of normality and security here with us.”
Ashion said: “I consider this project a privilege. I want to make a contribution so that people who seek protection here in Germany find out what is happening in our homeland.”
