Italian top flight football league Serie A is reportedly set to launch its own OTT platform.
According to Italian business outlet Milano Finanza, the league is planning to launch a standalone platform to house highlights, with it scheduled for launch ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The report goes on to note that media agency AdPlay Media Holding has submitted a bid to develop the platform. Its income stream would come from advertising with projected revenues of €12 million(US$12.08million) against costs of between €3-6 million.
In addition to highlights, such an app would house interviews, news and other multimedia content.
In order to launch such a platform, Serie A would need to get approval from its assembly, while also getting the go-ahead from rights holder DAZN.
