Shell Told To ‘Get Grip’ On Broadband Arm By Regulator

Shell’s broadband service is still the most complained about in the UK with telecoms regulator Ofcom telling the oil and gas giant ‘to get a grip’ on its offshoot.

BT and Virgin Mobile got the most complaints in pay monthly mobile while Virgin Media’s pay-TV service filled the unwanted top spot in that category.

Ofcom said complaints about Shell referred primarily to problem handling and dealing with faults, noting that the data only refers to those sent to the regulator itself and not those direct to the service supplier,

The regulator said it would keep a close watch on how Shell performs in future,

“As always, should we identify specific concerns with how our rules are being followed, we will consider whether it is appropriate to take formal action.”

Shell Energy Broadband replied: “We always strive to learn from any instances where a customer feels let down.

“Ofcom’s table reflects our position up to six months ago, and since then we have invested heavily and made big strides in our customer service and complaint processes.”
