OTT TV episode and movie revenues across 22 Eastern European countries will double from US$2.9 billion to US$5.7 billion between 2022 and 2028, according to Digital TV Research.
The media research firm has predicted Poland will lead OTT revenue in Eastern Europe; doubling its total between 2022 and 2028 to US$2.2 billion. Whereas, Russia’s growth will be hindered by sanctions. Together Poland and Russia will account for 61 per cent of the region’s 2028 total revenues.
Digital TV Research analysts expects SVOD revenues will rise from US$1.8 billion to US$3.5 billion between 2022 and 2028. Due to the slowdown in Russia, Poland, the only country to generate more than US$1 billion by 2028, will become the SVOD market leader.
“AVOD revenues will grow faster than SVOD. Russia’s AVOD revenues will stay just ahead of Poland,” said Digital TV Research’s principal analyst, Simon Murray.
