Liquid Intelligent Technologies signed a memorandum of understanding with the Zambian government, committing to deploy more infrastructure to provide affordable connectivity to Zambians.
In a statement, the Cassava Technologies-owned company said it will construct a new data centre but did not disclose further details. This latest development is a response to data-hosting needs from local businesses and hyperscalers companies in Zambia.
Liquid will also expand its fibre networks to connect more towns across the country, connecting schools and clinics. The group will also work with the government to offer public and private cloud and cyber security solutions to support the digitisation of government services.
According to a report from the UN Capital Development Fund, just over half (53%) of Zambians are connected to the internet.
