SD Worx Shuts Down Payroll And HR Services In The UK After A Cyberattack

Leading European HR and payroll management company based out of Belgium, which services 5.2 million employees for over 82,000 companies, SD Worx has suffered a cyberattack, leading them to shut down all IT systems for its UK and Ireland services. SD Worx began notifying customers of the cyberattack and the subsequent shutdown of the IT systems to contain the attack.

According to the security advisory to SD Worx UK and Ireland customers, the security team discovered malicious activities in their hosted data center and immediately isolated all systems and servers to mitigate the further impact. While the login portals for the rest of Europe are operational, the company’s UK customer portal is inaccessible.

The advisory emphasized that the company applies extremely stringent organizational and technical security measures to ensure the data privacy of its customers at all times. It further said that the company would inform the customers about further status.

While there is no further information on the type of cyberattack suffered by the company, a customer has expressed concern that sensitive data was stolen during the attack. Notably, as a full-service human resources and payroll company, SD Worx collects and manages a large amount of sensitive data for its clients’ employees.

According to the company’s general terms and conditions, the collected data includes full names, addresses, birth dates, tax information, government ID numbers, phone numbers, bank account numbers, employee evaluations, etc.
