Barring last minutes modification to the initial schedule, a former Acting Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer(EVC/CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) Engr. Dr.  Bashir Gwandu  recently appointed by Nigeria’s out-going President,  Muhammadu Buhari, to replace Engr. Prof. M.S Haruna, who has fully served out the 10 years maximum term, assumes duty this morning, Cyber Era NG can authoritatively report.

Engr. Gwandu brings to the table vast experiences garnered for many years from the public and private sectors.

With the replacement of Prof. Haruna and with President Buhari rounding off his 8-years on the saddle, the Governing Council of NASENI, cannot, but suffer necessary modification.  With Haruna out and Buhari almost out, the Governing Council will look like this:

• In-coming President & Commander –in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces-Chairman
• In-coming Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-Alternate Chairman
• Executive Vice Chairman, NASENI Governing Board & CEO-Dr. Bashir Gwandu
• Minister, National Planning Commission or his representative
• Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria or his representative
• Minister, Science and Technology or his representative
• Minister, Works and Housing or his representative
• Minister, Agriculture and Rural Development or his representative
• Minister of Health or his representative
• President/Chairman, Nigeria Academy of Science
• President/Chairman, Nigeria Society of Engineers
• President/Chairman, Council for Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria
• President/Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria
• President/Chairman, National Association of Small Scale Industrialists
• President/Chairman, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce; Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
• Two other persons to be appointed on personal merit by the President

It will be recalled it was former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan In 2013, that co-opted the Vice President [Federal Republic of Nigeria} as alternate Chairman  and the followings

 into the NASENI Board:

• Minister of Finance or his representative
• Minister of Power or his representative
• Minister of Trade and Investment or his representative
• Bureau for Public Procurement or his representative

The Membership of the Governing Board of NASENI guides the overall philosophy and direction of the organization by sharing common goal towards the fulfilment of the Agency’s Mission and Mandate.
