Skateboarding To Take New Heights In Australia And The Pacific

By Julius Ewudo, ASEAN Region Representative

Australia’s Premier skateboarding leagues, the BMD Rumble Pro Tour and its development programme the Rumble Am series will take a defining step forward for action sports in Australia, with the leagues opening their doors to the community for a stake in a plan to take skateboarding in the pacific to another level.

The Leagues will operate under a new Organisation, Pacific Action Sports, which will move from being individually owned to a whole range of stakeholders from investors, skateboarding community members and businesses.

The change comes with the competition level in Australia and its neighbouring nations reaching new heights, the globalisation of skateboarding with it being in the Olympics, and the opportunity to develop something permanent in the region.

Current Director of the leagues Donny Fraser said: “The opportunity for our region to develop on a global stage is here now, and the lack of existence of this in the past is a missed opportunity for many, and we plan on developing skateboarding here to be a global leader, while also creating a legacy for those coming through in the future. It’s a very rare opportunity for individuals and organisations to be able to get in at the ground level of a very fast growing sport, and we expect people to take it on with both hands.”

The Leagues are currently open to members to become stakeholders and the Organisation will officially launch its events from the start of the new Am series season, which begins in November.
