Following a terrific Asia Forum in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia, last week, the International Institute of Communications(IIC) is changing its focus to Europe with the imminent IIC Europe Forum to be hosted by the BIPT and it is looking forward to the forum’s lively discussions and debates on 12-13 March.
Cyber Era NG learns that IIC members will have the opportunity to voice their views on the digital economy priorities for the next Commission and whether it’s time to take stock or time to do more. They are keen to discuss the potential new connectivity package and its implications for sustainability, security, innovation and competition, according to a heads-up provided by the IIC DG, Lynn Robinson.
Media distribution, concentration and sustainability are also a high priority, in an environment dominated by online content consumption. Privacy, consumer protection and online safety will also be on the agenda, and a fresh look at responsible AI practices. At our Asia Forum in Kuala Lumpur last week there was a call for regulators to become orchestrators – we will ask our European members what they make of this, and how they see regulatory models evolving.
The IIC’s newly appointed President Isolde Goggin will be attending and is very much looking forward to meeting members and contributing to the discussions.
