Meta Signs Purchase Agreements With Arevon Energy To Power Operations With Kelso Solar Project

A renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, Arevon Energy and Meta Platforms have signed two long-term Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for the Kelso solar project in Scott County, Missouri.
According to the SEC, environmental attributes include “any and all attributes, credits, benefits, emission reductions, offsets, and allowances attributable to the characteristics, production, and use of [solar energy].”
The project will generate 349 MWac of power and support Meta’s operations with 100 per cent renewable energy in the region. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational in Q4 2025, while the second phase will begin after Q1 2026.
Arevon will own and operate the project, which will create more than 450 full-time equivalent construction jobs and five permanent jobs for operations and maintenance.
While land leases with local landowners will generate millions of dollars in annual revenue, the solar facility will also disburse more than US$34 million to local governments over its life, with nearly US$28 million contributed to area schools.
Construction activity and the project’s continued operations will increase money spent at local businesses, including stores, restaurants, and hotels.
