IT Banking expert Joel Busienei has moved to Consolidated Bank of Kenya as Head of ICT to spearhead the Bank’s digital transformation agenda.
In the new role, he is responsible for implementing the Bank’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) strategy and ensuring that the lender has the appropriate IT infrastructure and systems to effectively support the achievement of its objectives.
Busienei boasts of over 19 years experiencing serving different IT leadership positions in local banks some with regional operations. Before transitioning to Consolidated Bank of Kenya, he was Group Head of IT Infrastructure at Equity Bank Limited. At Equity, he was responsible for the design, implementation and operations of the Bank’s all technology infrastructures.
Busienei has also served as the Head of IT Infrastructure and Data Centre at NCBA Group and Head of IT Infrastructure at Commercial Bank of Africa.
His tenure at the different banks has seen him plan, design and oversee key digital transformation initiatives that have had direct major effects on customers.
Busienei was responsible for designing the Equity Group Core banking platform and infrastructure upgrade and architecture blue print. He also led in infrastructure architect for the Merger between NIC and CBA in 2019 to integrate the two banks network, data centres and collaboration Services. He also assisted in successfully redesigning the NCBA- Safaricom M-Shwari/Fuliza network and implemented to functionality in 2020.
