Ericsson has claimed victory at the FutureNet World telecoms industry awards ceremony in London in May. The Network Sustainability Award was presented to Ericsson for its Predictive Cell Energy Management (PCEM) solution, an application which enables service providers to reduce energy consumption without impacting service or experience levels.
The FutureNet World Network Sustainability Award is presented to “The best intelligent automation solution for network sustainability and energy efficiency.” With a record , and an impressive selection of shortlisted competitors, Ericsson’s selection as winner, by a panel of experienced industry analysts, shows the particular technical leadership and clear value its customers gain when choosing this solution.
Energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction is of particular importance for communications service providers (CSP). Not only are energy costs rising, but CSPs have also made high commitments to sustainability and ambitious Net Zero targets. Meeting the goals set for efficient, sustainable and cost-effective use of energy means using the latest technology advances to enable energy-saving functionalities to the fullest.
The PCEM solution is part of Ericsson’s Energy Infrastructure Operations offering, a multi-vendor and multi-technology application which reduces energy consumption on cell level, while maintaining network quality and customer experience. The solution is comprised of two main parts: the Intelligence & Recommendation Engine provides personalization, optimization, prediction, and reporting functions, while the Automation Engine automates the best energy-saving actions to take for a specific site at a specific moment. By leveraging AI, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods, PCEM enables network operators to achieve significant energy savings, cost savings, and CO2 emission reductions.
