US: New Trademark Search System Coming This Year

By Godson Umejiego, Bureau Chief, The Americas

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is working on a new system to improve users’ experience when searching its  trademark database. It will be launched later this year and will replace the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS).

Based on feedback from the public, USPTO is redesigning the interface to make it more intuitive, straightforward, and easier to view search results. “We’ll share more information in the coming months to help you prepare for the transition, including the timeline for launching, and instructions to help you use the new system,” said USPTO.
