MTS Kosovo Wins Appeal Against Licence Suspension

Telekom Srbija’s Director-General

By James Barton

MTS Kosovo looks set to continue providing services in the market, with local media reporting that the country’s authorities have approved its appeal against the cancellation of its licence.

Local outlet N1 reported that the Agency for Business Registers (ARBK) was ordered to “review all changes and data in the register in accordance with the Brussels Agreement and other relevant regulations.”

MTS Kosovo had its operating licence revoked last month, with its parent Telekom Srbija claiming that this was due to a member of the operator’s management holding a passport issued by Serbia. Kosovar authorities meanwhile claimed that the operator was hit with sanctions for listing addresses as being in Serbia despite them being registered as within Kosovo.

Telekom Srbija’s Director General Vladimir Lučić said that the decision to accept MTS Kosovo’s appeal “confirms the truth and restores legal certainty for the business and functioning of MTS in accordance with the rule of law.”

While this matter appears to be resolved, MTS remains under investigation for failing to report on its acquisition of three companies between 2019 and 2021.
