Mississippi Public Broadcasting has announced Andrew Bicknell as its new chief technology officer/director of Engineering, overseeing the agency’s statewide network of eight towers and 12 microwave towers.

Bicknell has worked in broadcasting and communications engineering since 1984. Previously, he’s held positions as director of Engineering and chief technology officer at Arkansas PBS and joint chief engineer of Radio and Television at Houston Public Media. 

Bicknell began his career in Perth, Western Australia, before relocating to the US in 1997.

MPB’s tower network is a critical first alert provider for Mississippi through partnerships with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Public Safety, and the Office of the Governor.

Strengthening the network infrastructure and supporting the agency’s digital-first approach to programming and network engineering are among Bicknell’s top priorities at MPB.
