The Permanent Secretary in the St Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Information, Communications, Technology, and Posts Cheryleann Pemberton created history when she was appointed to serve on the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation’s (CTO) Executive Committee.
Pemberton was appointed to the Executive Committee during the 2024 Digital Week in London.
She is the first representative from St Kitts and Nevis to serve on the Executive Committee.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs Cheryleann Pemberton to the Executive Council,” said Bernadette Lewis, Secretary-General of the CTO. “Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission of promoting ICT development and digital transformation across our member states.”
Pemberton said she is excited to serve on the Executive Committee, which consists of seven members and the CTO Secretary General.
“I am honoured to be appointed to the CTO Executive Committee. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to the collective efforts of the Commonwealth in leveraging technology for socio-economic development. I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to drive impactful change and innovation,” Pemberton said.
In her role on the CTO’s Executive Committee, Pemberton will advise the council on organisational strategies and policies.
Additionally, Pemberton will contribute to the review and deliberation of the draft Budget, Annual Report, and strategic plan. She will also offer guidance to the secretary general on programme development and management, as well as assist in the selection process for appointing the CTO’s Secretary-General.
