APRA Condoles With Kenyans Over Mass Protests For Perceived Obnoxious Finance Bill

Following the mass protests across Kenya, against perceived toxic finance bill, proposed by the Ruto-led government, and the attendant collateral damage to the Kenyan political economy, the office of the Secretary-General of African Public Relations Association (APRA), the pan-African professional body for PR practitioners on the continent, has released a statement in response to the ugly development.  The statement was e-signed by the APRA Secretary-General, Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan.

Although the government has accurately read the body language of Kenyans and swiftly suspended the perceived obnoxious finance bill, President Ruto believes the action has serious consequencies for Kenya and Kenyans. 

The statement by APRA reads: “The Executive Council and Members of APRA condole with all Kenyans in general over the recent crisis that happened in the Republic of Kenya.

Also, we stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

“We urge the Government of Kenya to put the people of Kenya first and in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the Presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation.

We commiserate with the families of those who died and wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the protests. We fervently pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased.”
