Swiss cable operator sasag Cable Communication has announced a multi-year partnership with TV-as-a-service platform Zattoo.
The partnership will see Zattoo relaunch sasag’s five year-old IPTV service with its white label TV platform.
The Zattoo platform promises to deliver sasag with greater interactivity and personalisation and a consistent user experience across all devices. The new service will come with features including content discovery, catch-up TV, live pause, restart and nPVR.
The new sasag service will go live this summer in a phased rollout across Apple TV, iOS devices, a sasag-branded Android TV Operator Tier set-top box, Amazon Fire TV and Android.
The launch will make sasag the first operator in Switzerland to offer a full set of smart TV apps to their customers across platforms including Panasonic, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS.
CEO at sasag, Daniel Kyburz said: “After modernising our fiber optic cable network and being the first cable network to introduce nationwide Internet at 1GBit/s two years ago, we are now taking our place at the top of the TV service provider table by switching to Zattoo’s TV Platform solution. The extensive feature set of the new IPTV solution, as well as the availability of the TV solution on all of our end user’s devices will make our future IPTV offering much more attractive. We are pleased about the professional and competent cooperation with Zattoo.”
Head of Sales at Zattoo, Julian Hens said: “Switzerland is one of the most advanced TV markets in the world. The broad availability of content and non linear use cases poses special challenges to operators in building and maintaining compelling TV products that are fit to compete with the comprehensive pay TV services of large telcos. Upgrading their TV service with the full range of applications for STBs, Streaming Boxes, Smart TVs and mobile devices will be a great differentiator for sasag. We are happy and grateful to be working with such an innovative and agile partner in delivering a great TV experience to the sasag customer base.”
