Contrary to a report in an online medium(not Cyber Era NG) to the effect that the mobile operating license of MTN Nigeria has been renewed by telecommunications regulator, the Nigerian Communications (NCC) for another period of ten years, the Commission has said that although MTN applied for its UAS L to be renewed, the process has not concluded, a statement from the Public Affairs Director(PAD) Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde seen by Cyber Era NG says.
The statement reads: “The online publication which cited regulatory filings by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as its source, stated that “MTN Nigeria, the nation’s largest mobile network operator (MNO), has secured regulatory approval of the renewal of its operating licence for another 10 years with effect from September 1, 2021.”
The Commission further stated that while MTN Nigeria had applied for the renewal of the Unified Access and Service License granted to it by the Commission, the application was yet to be approved as it was still undergoing required regulatory processes.
