Digi Boosted By Growth In Romania And Spain

Romania-based service provider Digi saw its pay TV base in Romania grow by 15 per cent to five million in the year to June, while the company’s entry into Spain as a challenger brand delivered its engine of revenue growth on the back of strong subscriber acquisitions.

In its domestic market, the operator saw revenue growth of 14.5 per cent year-on-year in Q2, thanks to increases in revenue-generating units. In addition to its five million pay TV subs, the group had 3.5 million internet customers, up 18.9 per cent, and 3.9 million mobile customers, up 11 per cent.

In Spain, where Digi has emerged as a serious market disruptor with a competitively priced mobile offering, the company saw revenues rise by 29 per cent in Q2, with mobile customers growing by 27 per cent to 2.7 million, and its small fixed-line customer base rising by 140 per cent 327,000.

Overall, Digi now has 5.9 million pay TV customers globally, up 600,000, 4.6 million fixed internet customers, up by 800,000, and 7.1 million mobile customers, up by 1.1 million.

Some 61 per cent of the company’s revenues come from the Romanian market, which accounts for 70 per cent of the group’s RGUs. Spain is now Digi’s second largest market, however, accounting for 24 per cent of total revenues.

Overall, revenues were up by 14.4 per centin Q2 to €355 million(US$415.76million), while the global number of RGUs for the group reached 19.3 million, up 15 per cent.

Adjusted EBITDA for Q2 was €129 million, up 11.8 per cent.
