Pakistan: UBL Customers Are Complaining About Malicious Account Activity Including Cash Withdrawal
United Bank Limited customers have recently been left in the dark concerning bank transfers, bill payments, and internet transactions that were made without their permission. Hundreds of customers of one of Pakistan’s leading banks have reported that they have lost money due to a technical problem with the bank’s services in the last few days.
One likely reason is debit card hacking, which is done by hijacking ATM machines. The information on debit cards is duplicated when they are inserted into the machine. Key loggers are also used to capture the card’s key pins, which are subsequently used on the internet.
Furthermore, bank staff advised the disappointed clients that the bank’s services are experiencing issues and that the bank is working hard to solve the issues. Customers also claimed that their cards had been disabled temporarily.
Many customers went to social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to express their discontent with the situation. UBL’s data was stolen, according to trustworthy sources, allowing these transactions to take place. These allegations, however, were not independently validated.
