German media outfit and FAST provider Video Solutions has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Deutsche Segel Bundesliga sailing competition.
The company will broadcast all races from the 2023 season worldwide and exclusively live on its free, advertising-financed streaming service wedotv.
Viewers have already been able to follow all races live on wedotv.com. From next weekend, October 14, wedotv will broadcast this year’s season finale of the Segel Bundesliga live.
The league, founded in 2013, is the most important national club competition in sailing.
With the exclusive rights to the Segel Bundesliga, wedotv said it was further expanding its sports rights portfolio. In 2023, the streaming service will again broadcast all major international equestrian competitions live, including Royal Ascot, The Grand National and Breeders Cup. There are also weekly magazines with highlights from Formula 1, football, e-sports and martial arts.
wedotv is available as an app on most smart TVs, streaming devices and platforms, including Android, iOS, Samsung, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku, as well as directly on the web at www.wedotv.com. In addition to wedotv, Video Solutions also operates the advertising-financed, linear channels wedo movies and wedo big docs.
This season, the races of the Segel Bundesliga can be seen live on wedotv, YouTube and Facebook, but from 2023 they will be exclusively on wedotv. In addition to the Sailing Bundesliga, next year wedotv will continue to broadcast the Sailing Champions League live on a non-exclusive basis.
“We are pleased about the strong interest in the Sailing League, which we have included in our sports programme this year. With the exclusive live broadcast of the races, wedotv will be the number one contact point for sailing fans from 2023. At the same time, we offer our advertising partners access to a highly attractive, high-income target group,” said founder and CEO of Video Solutions, Philipp Rotermund.
“The German Sailing League is a highly attractive sports format and inspires sailors and sports fans alike. Our live programme uses the latest technologies and possibilities of modern sports reporting and makes sailing so tangible for all viewers,” said Managing Director of the German Sailing League, Oliver Schwall.
