Leading snowboard manufacturing company Burton Snowboards, one of the most well-known snowboard brands founded in 1977 by Jake Burton Carpenter, has canceled all online orders following a recent cyber incident, leading to a system outage and disruption of operations.
The Burlington-based brand, which specializes in snowboards, bindings, boots, outerwear, and accessories, said in a prominent alert on its website that it cannot process online orders as it closed down eCommerce operations due to a cyber incident that occurred on February 14.
In a separate statement, Burton said that the attack continues to impact the operations, and it is currently investigating the incident with the help of third-party specialists to determine the full nature and scope. The company is attempting to resume affected business operations.
Customers are advised to visit a Burton store or use the new online rental service to purchase snowboarding equipment or have it shipped to them. The business did not elaborate on the specifics of this cyber incident, but it will likely revise its statement after the ongoing investigation is finished.
