New Look CTO Ed Alford Exits Business After 2 Years

By Jasdip Sensi

New Look chief technology officer Ed Alford will step down from his role at the fashion retailer at the end of the month.

Alford is currently responsible for leading New Look’s omnichannel strategy, as well as its engineering, technology investment, and IT divisions.

Departing after two years at the helm, Alford will not be replaced as CTO, instead the fashion retailer will be broadening engineering director, Ian Mahoney’s position, who will now have the title of technology and engineering director.

Mahoney, who has been with New Look for just over a year, joined from luxury retailer Selfridges as the head of technology digital, customer and data.

He has also held senior positions at M&S, Tata Consultancy Services and Sky.

Alford joined New Look in 2021 after spending 17 years at BP, where he recently held the position of vice president of digital transformation, a position he held for two years.

At BP he also held the positions of vice president and chief information officer of The Enterprise, managing the company’s global platform estate and vice president and chief information officer of global business application services.
