The current pandemic poses a major risk for the global economy, exposing financial vulnerabilities, and testing the post-financial crisis economic model. Sustainable investing is very much part of COVID-19 response, governments, central banks, investors and financial institutions, have a vital role to play in investing in a green economy. The ESG investment and sustainable bond had gained a lot of traction before COVID and pulled in around US$130 billion in sustainable options in 2019. The green bond market, which is one of the bellwethers of ESG pulled in US$300 billion in the same year. Despite COVID, the issuance of green, social, and sustainable bonds reached US$120.1 billion in April 2020 due to COVID theme social bond issuances.
