Assumption Life is has hired a returning former employee as one of its top executives.
The company announced on August 29 release that Tony McLaughlin is now its vice-president and chief information and technology officer.
McLaughlin, who Assumption Life says is a nationally and internationally experienced luminary in the IT field, said in a news release that he chose to return to Assumption Life because of the team’s motivation to make professional and social impacts through its work.
“The Assumption Life team ticks all these boxes and I am happy to join this great family again. I look forward to putting my expertise to work with my team to ensure that Assumption Life remains a technological leader in the insurance industry,” McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin, a Université de Moncton alumnus, started his career with Assumption Life in 1999 as a technical manager and senior software developer. Eventually, he worked his way up to being a senior database architect. He left the Moncton-based insurance giant in 2009 to work for Atlantic Lottery, moving on to take roles with Medavie Blue Cross as a system integration specialist.
From 2016, McLaughlin worked with BMM Testlabs, where in his most recent role, he served as VP of quality assurance services for North America and India.
