Nearly two
weeks after it rallied industry
stakeholders to a webinar to discuss the
Socio-economic and Political Impact of COVID-19 on the telecommunications,
technology and media(TMT) sector in Nigeria, the Association of Telecommunications
Companies of Nigeria (ATCON is partnering other parties to organize another webinar tagged Innovative
Providers Stakeholder Engagement.
Information on the webinar as communicated to us by ATCON’s Executive Secretary, Ajibola Olude, says the theme of the virtual conversation is: Harnessing Indigenous Solutions for Public Sector Innovation and Digital Development”. Other organizations collaborating with ATCON on the webinar are the Co-Creation Hub, Office of Nigerian Content(ONC) Development in Information and Communication Technology and the National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA). The ONC is an agency under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology while NITDA is supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
Details of the joint webinar are still awaited but are likely going to be a consolidation of the talkpoints at the ATCON June 4 webinar wherein, NITDA and other agencies made presentations. The webinar dwelt, among other things, on the need for the private and public sectors to close ranks and water down operating in silos for the benefit of broadband development in particular and the digital economy in general.
