The Africa Internet Summit 2020 has been postponed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic with the organising committee saying it is continually assessing the situation and is yet to determine both the date and mode of holding the meeting.
The postponement will not affect the planning process to ensure it is prepared when the current crisis is over even as it is not ruling out an online meeting. Details of the AIS ’20 postponement is contained in an AFRINIC information signed by its Marketing and PR Manager, Susan M.A. Otieno and seen by Cyber Era.
Otieno stated that her organization was extending the call for presentations for AIS’20 thus:
• Deadline for submitting an application – 12 June 2020
• Notification of acceptance of application – 19 June 2020
• Submission of presentation – 25 June 2020
According to her, AFRINIC is interested in presentations focusing on the following sub-themes:

• Internet Governance
• Business Practices and Technology
• E-governance
• Cyber Security
• Core Internet Infrastructure
• Access, Utility and Development
• Internet Number Resources Management
• Internet Measurements

• Relations between Mobile Operators and the Internet Community
• Mobile Applications

• Peering and Interconnection

• RPKI
• IXPs
“Your contribution can be in the form of a presentation during a session, a tutorial or a live technical demonstration. Kindly read all information carefully before submitting your proposal.
We also encourage industry leaders to make panel proposals on an issue related to the above sub-themes. Panel proposers are asked to identify possible panelists and manage their panel. Moderators must specifically submit an official proposal, indicating their background, panelists’ names, their affiliation, the topic of their panel, as well as short biographies,” she says.
As per the Speakers’ Guidelines:
• The maximum time allotted per presentation will not exceed 30 minutes.
• The presenter(s) will be required to upload their final presentation in PDF format, no later than five (5) days prior to the presentation date.
• Presenters are responsible for producing any handouts if required. There are usually approximately 200 delegates in each session. Presentations with marketing and/or commercial content will not be considered.
