CPI Rebasing: NBS Committed To Transparency, Accountability In Statistical Information Dissemination-NBS Director

The National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) has restated its stoic commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability principles in its dissemination of statistical information in the country.
The Director Of Communication And Public Relations at NBS, Ichedi Sunday Joel stated this while addressing a press conference on consumer price index ( CPI) rebasing held at NBS headquarters, Abuja, north central Nigeria, February 18, 2025.
Mr. Ichedi’s speech reads in part: “Today, we gather to discuss the results of the rebased Consumer Price Index for Nigeria, a crucial milestone in our efforts to provide accurate and reliable statistical data. This briefing demonstrates our commitment to transparency and accountability in the dissemination of statistical information.
“I would like to extend a special welcome to the Statistician General of the Federation and CEO of the National Bureau of Statistics, who will be presenting the key findings of the rebased Consumer Price Index. We are also grateful for the presence of our media partners, whose role in disseminating statistical information to the public is invaluable.
To our top management and staff of the National Bureau of Statistics, I appreciate your hard work and dedication to producing high-quality statistical data.
