Czech regulator CTU has convened a meeting of the working group on the spectrum use, to discuss the development and strategy for the use of radio frequencies. The group considered 5G studies, conditions covering the 26 GHz and 6 GHz bands, proposals for the upcoming spectrum management strategy and other issues.

With the participation of the concerned entities, including representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Department of the Ministry of Defence, mobile operators, industry groups representing ISPs, considered the use of radio frequencies both from a national and international point of view.

The first part of the meeting focused mainly on circuit proposals for the newly prepared spectrum management strategy. The proposals discussed included, for example, procedures for the shared use of frequencies, new bands for 5G and other circuits.

In the second part, the group looked in particular at the upper part of the 6 GHz band in terms of opportunities for the deployment of broadband connectivity and the question of what is the best use of the band.

The group will be drawing up a joint opinion of regulator and spectrum users, based on which it will be possible to formulate the position of the Czech Republic at international negotiations.
