Global accounting and audit firm Deloitte UK has shot back at a ransomware group which claimed to have infiltrated the company’ internal network and accessed more than 1 terabyte of data.
Last week, the infamous Brain Cipher ransomware group claimed that it breached the internal network of Deloitte UK and stole more than 1 TB of data. While the group did not share any sample of the stolen data, it gave a deadline of December 15 for the company to meet its ransom demands and stop it from leaking the stolen data.

“Soon we will tell you about this incident. We will provide an example of data that has leaked. The volume of compressed data [is] more than 1tb,” the threat group said.
Deloitte did not initially comment on the hacker group’s claims, but has now acknowledged that it experienced a data security incident.
In a statement shared with the media, a Deloitte UK spokesperson said, “We are aware of the claims by the threat actor. Our investigation indicates that the allegations relate to a single client’s system which sits outside of the Deloitte network. No Deloitte systems have been impacted.”
This is the second time in three months that threat actors have claimed that they infiltrated the accounting giant’s internal network. In September, the IntelBroker group said that it breached the company’s internal network and stole sensitive and confidential company data.
The compromised data included email addresses, internal settings, and communications between intranet users.
Without confirming whether the company actually suffered a data security incident, in a statement shared with Cyber Daily, a Deloitte spokesperson said, “Our investigation has found no threat to client data or other sensitive data related to this incident.”
