The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a new chief information security officer (CISO) as of April 7, a DHS spokesperson confirmed to MeriTalk.
The department’s deputy CISO Hemant Baidwan is taking over from Kenneth Bible, who retired from Federal service this month after just over three years in the role.
Baidwan served as DHS’s deputy CISO for more than two and a half years. He has been at DHS since 2015, serving in various cyber leadership roles – such as the director of cybersecurity risk management and compliance from March 2019 to October 2021.
Before moving to DHS’s CISO Office, he served as the governance and risk management chief for DHS’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) organization. Prior to that, Baidwan spent more than a decade in the private sector.
The deputy CISO at ICE and acting director of IT operations, Antonino Scimemi will take up Baidwin’s position as deputy CISO in an acting capacity.
