EEOC To Hold Virtual Commission Meeting Sept. 12, 2022 To Focus On Workers Vulnerable To Discrimination

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Friday that on Sept. 12 it will hold a virtual Commission meeting, “Identifying Vulnerable Workers and Reaching Underserved Communities,” to focus on populations that are especially vulnerable to employment discrimination in America.
This virtual meeting will be the second in a series of “listening sessions” inviting public input into the agency’s Strategic Enforcement Plan (SEP) for fiscal years 2022-2026. The SEP will set forth long term priorities for the federal civil rights agency. The Commission will hear suggestions from witnesses for identifying vulnerable workers and underserved communities and how the EEOC can best use its resources to ensure that all workers have access to equal employment opportunities.
Witnesses will include representatives from Legal Aid at Work, Columbia Legal Services, California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc., and the Transgender Law Center, among other organizations.
The first listening session was held in Buffalo, New York on Aug. 22, 2022 and focused on racial and economic justice. The third session will be held in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 22, 2022 and will solicit input on all aspects of the SEP.
Virtual attendees can also access a livestream of the listening session via the EEOC’s YouTube channel after the meeting begins without registering in advance.
The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination.
