A large number of dead fish were found at the Kisangarh choe near the regulatory end of Sukhna Lake.

Animal Husbandry Department Joint Director Dr Kanwarjit said during rains, a lot of silt and muddy water enters the lake which results in less oxygen.

“This is believed to be the reason behind their death. However, the forest department is collecting samples of dead fish for further examination,” he added.

He said a team of forest and animal husbandry departments have taken out the fish and will bury them. Dead fish have earlier been found during rainy season.
