Japanese credit card issuer Life Card is to begin issuing cards containing a built-in fingerprint verification sensor this year, in a move that marks the first commercial launch of biometric payment cards in Japan.
“Life Card provides innovative, secure and frictionless payment solutions to our growing consumer base,” company president Keiji Masui says. “Introducing the latest biometric technology and security to the Japanese market will reinforce our market positioning, as we attract new customers and increase transactions and customer lifetime value”.
