Palau National Communications Corporation(PNCC) has announced that it has successfully connected Sonsorol State to high-speed internet via a new satellite dish that PNCC installed and activated on February 17, 2025, Cyber Era NG learns.

We gather that this project, in collaboration with Intelsat, brings internet access to the Sonsorol school and state office, improving education and communication for the community.

We understand that the dish is powered with solar panels provided by a grant from the Government of Japan through UNDP.

Sonsorol Governor Lucy Pedro told PNCC, “This is a game changer for our community. The people of Sonsorol are deeply grateful for your commitment to this project. Haparu ma hatawahi dewa.”

PNCC CEO Simon Fraser commended the team for their efforts and confirmed that another satellite dish will be installed on Pulo Anna during the next state boat visit, further extending connectivity in the Southwest Islands.

“Expanding internet and communications access will help bring digital inclusion to remote populations and give Palau’s economy room to grow,” said Senior Sales Director, Intelsat, Nigel Stitt.
